Aka “The Captain”. More than just a full-time sculptor, he is the CEO and founder of Freebooter Miniatures.<\/p>\n

He also, together with a – quite frankly – brilliant team, invented Freebooter’s Fate.<\/p>\n

He has been in the industry since the mid-90s, having started as a freelancer for Hobby Products Demonworld, DSA, Reaper Miniatures, Privateer Press Warmachine, Rackham Confrontation, and many others.<\/p>\n

He set up Freebooter Miniatures as his very own company in 2002. Werner is still full of enthusiasm for his chosen profession and constantly bursting with fresh ideas. She prodded our own pirate game system, now known as Freebooter’s Fate, into finally being realised, after it had sat in a drawer for years.<\/p>\n

Joined the crew in 2017, trying out as a rule tester. A mere year later, that was no longer enough for him and he started the world’s best (and only) Freebooter’s Fate podcast “Radio Longfall”.<\/p>\n

Over time, he became known as the “explaining bear” (it loses a bit in translation but is hilarious in German, trust us), because if he doesn’t know a rule, chances are that it doesn’t exist. Nik has been part of Freebooter Miniatures since 2018, after being hired at Spiel Essen in the same year. Before the dreaded C-pandemic struck, he was responsible for recruiting new and passionate players for the game. He later joined the ranks of the landlubbers you see behind the counter at conventions.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Whether at the booth or in development meetings, he never tires of trying to convince others to share his enthusiasm for goblins. The Green Side is strong in this ‘un.<\/p>\n

Gianna joined in 2019 after Nik infected her with his passion for the game. She is not only busy behind the scenes proofreading scenario books, but can also be seen behind the counter at some conventions. Some of the Brotherhood’s characters owe their names to her knowledge of the Italian language. The oldest file on his hard drive which has anything to do with Freebooter’s Fate dates from November 2007. So he reckons he’s been part of the crew for a while now.<\/p>\n

He usually acts as an oracle of new ideas, which means that the things he puts down on paper are 95% utter gibberish, but the rest can occasionally turn out to be useful (after being subjected to rigorous scrutiny and interpretation). He also supports the team with designing rules and trying to poke holes in them. Oh, and with building terrain.<\/p>\n

It was their snazzy LARP outfits which led to Birk and Tassa being brought on board as demo people shortly after Freebooter’s Fate was first released.<\/p>\n

In addition to demo games at conventions, the two were regularly entrusted with various tasks around the ship. Whether they were creating illustrations, writing copy, inspecting text and layout with a keen eye, building silly mushroom tables or creating videos with dubious sound quality, the pair always managed to stick their oars in somewhere – in a good way.
